Hi, I’m CarrieRae, designer and founder of Undersummers. When I first started creating solution-based garments for women, I wasn’t just designing clothes—I was crafting a message. A message that says every woman, no matter her size, deserves to feel confident, comfortable, and celebrated in her own skin. Size inclusivity isn’t just a trendy buzzword in the fashion industry; it’s a commitment to creating a world where every body is valued, and every person feels seen. Today, I want to share why size inclusivity is at the heart of Undersummers and why it matters so deeply to me.
What Is Size Inclusivity?
Size inclusivity means designing for all women, regardless of their shape, size, or body type. It’s more than offering a range of sizes; it’s about understanding that women’s bodies come in beautiful variations that can’t be categorized into “straight” or “plus-size.” True size inclusivity starts with empathy and ends with empowerment. It’s not just about extending sizes but about ensuring that every size is thoughtfully designed for comfort, style, and fit.
For me, size inclusivity is also about representation. It’s making sure our products and marketing reflect the diversity of real women—showing stretch marks, curves, and all the unique features that make us who we are. It’s about ensuring no one feels excluded from the joy of wearing clothes that fit well, feel great, and spark confidence.
Why Size Inclusivity Matters
1. Confidence Is for Everyone
For years, the fashion industry has promoted narrow beauty standards, leaving so many women feeling unseen and undervalued. As someone who has experienced firsthand how clothing can either empower or diminish confidence, I knew I wanted to do better. Clothes should make you feel good—like you can conquer the world, take on that meeting, or just enjoy a day out without adjusting or worrying about discomfort.
When I started Undersummers, I listened to women’s frustrations: waistband digging in, thigh chafing, limited options in styles or sizes. It broke my heart to hear women say they felt invisible or undeserving of clothing that made them feel beautiful. This is why every piece I design is made with the belief that confidence is not a privilege reserved for a certain size; it’s a right for everyone.
2. Comfort Should Never Be a Compromise
How often have we been told to “just deal with it” when it comes to clothes that don’t fit right? I’ve heard countless stories of women wearing uncomfortable, ill-fitting garments simply because they felt they didn’t have better options in their size. That’s unacceptable.
Comfort is the cornerstone of my designs. From the buttery soft fabric to the thoughtful seams that won’t dig or roll, every detail is tested with real women to ensure they work for real bodies. Size inclusivity means no woman should have to choose between style and comfort. With Undersummers, she gets both.
3. Representation Shapes Self-Love
When was the last time you saw someone who looked like you in a fashion ad? For many women, the answer is “almost never.” Representation in fashion is powerful because it shapes how we see ourselves. When we only see one type of body celebrated, it’s easy to feel like we don’t measure up.
At Undersummers, I’ve worked hard to create campaigns that showcase women of all shapes, sizes, and ages. Whether she’s an hourglass, apple, pear, or athletic shape, I want every woman to see herself in our designs and know she is beautiful just as she is. Representation isn’t just a marketing strategy—it’s an act of love.
4. Every Body Deserves Options
Size exclusivity is often unintentional but rooted in systemic neglect of certain body types. For decades, women outside the traditional size range have had to settle for limited options. They’ve been told, “This is all we offer,” or worse, made to feel like their bodies were the problem.
Size inclusivity flips that narrative. At Undersummers, we offer a wide range of sizes designed to celebrate your natural body—not alter or hide it. I want every woman to find something she loves, whether she’s shopping for anti-chafe shorts, stylish slip dresses, or breathable undergarments. Every body deserves options that feel luxurious, practical, and empowering.
5. Inclusivity Is the Future of Fashion
The fashion industry is slowly shifting, but we still have a long way to go. Brands that embrace size inclusivity aren’t just doing what’s trendy—they’re doing what’s right. Women demand better, and I’m here to meet that demand.
Size inclusivity isn’t a niche; it’s a movement. By creating garments that cater to diverse needs, we’re challenging outdated norms and redefining what fashion can be. This isn’t just about selling clothes; it’s about creating a world where every woman feels worthy of love and celebration.
How Undersummers Embraces Size Inclusivity
At Undersummers, size inclusivity isn’t an afterthought; it’s woven into every step of our design process. Here’s how we make it happen:
-
Thoughtful Design for Every Size Each size is individually tailored, ensuring that the fit and proportions work beautifully for all body types. We don’t just “grade up” from a smaller size; we design with the specific needs of plus-size women in mind.
-
Wide Size Range Our garments are available in sizes XS through 5X, because every woman deserves to feel included.
-
Real Women, Real Feedback We test our designs on women of all shapes and sizes to ensure they perform in real-life scenarios. From chasing kids at the park to dancing the night away, our products are designed to move with you.
-
Celebrating Diversity Our campaigns feature women of different ages, ethnicities, and sizes because beauty is diverse, and so are our customers.
-
Style Without Sacrifice Size inclusivity shouldn’t mean compromising on style. Our garments are designed to be as pretty as they are practical, because I believe every woman deserves to feel fabulous.
A Call to Action
To my fellow designers: Let’s do better. Size inclusivity isn’t just good business—it’s good humanity. Listen to your customers, embrace diversity, and design with empathy.
To women everywhere: You are beautiful, just as you are. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. Demand clothing that celebrates your body and meets your needs. You deserve nothing less.
At Undersummers, we’ll keep championing size inclusivity because it’s more than a philosophy—it’s a promise. A promise to empower women, one garment at a time. Together, we can create a fashion industry where every woman feels seen, valued, and confident.
Thank you for being part of this journey. Let’s celebrate every body, every day.
With love,
CarrieRae
