What to Pack For a Cruise

Whether you're embarking on your first cruise or you've done it a few times, there are some important things to remember when packing for a cruise. Your wardrobe should be varied based on your destination and the weather conditions, as well as the activities you're likely to engage in off the ship (beach days, poolside relaxation, sightseeing or dinner in port).

Cover-ups

For sunny, warm destinations, pack lightweight cotton cover-ups and sun hats for daytime. Dress up with a dressier top or tunic for evenings, and make sure to bring a couple of casual jackets and thermals if the weather turns colder during the trip.

Swimsuits, Shorts and Bikinis

A few bathing suits and a pair of anti chafe swim shorts are essential on every cruise itinerary, as well as a pair of comfy flip-flops or sandals for beachy destinations. You'll also want to pack a pair of dress shoes for fancier evening dining and evening events on the ship.

Travel sized toiletries

To make it easy to find what you need, pack a variety of travel sized items that don't take up much room in your suitcase or backpack. This includes travel-sized versions of toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo and conditioner, lotion, deodorant, shaving cream, contact lenses solutions and eyeglass cases.

Personal Care Products

Hair products, face and body moisturizers and makeup are also useful to have on hand for those who need them. Often cruise ships provide these products, but you may want to pack some as well.

Comfortable Pajamas and Comfy Shoes

A good set of pajamas is a must-have for most cruises. Some cruise lines provide robes and slippers on their ships, but you'll want to bring your own as well.

Activewear

On longer cruises, you'll probably find that there are fitness classes and a number of outdoor tracks on the ship. If you're an avid hiker, it's a good idea to pack a hiking bag or a tote that can be used to store your gear.

Other accessories to bring are a telephoto lens for taking photos in ports and a small purse to hold your passport. A lightweight, reusable bottle of sunscreen is also a smart choice for your cruise luggage.

ABOUT US

Meet our founder: CarrieRae

Undersummers Shortlettes were created CarrieRae's personal need for comfortable thigh protection when she was working as a teacher. In 2011, her thick thighs rubbed and she needed a comfortable solution.  Pants are blazing hot in the Houston spring/summer months, shorts are not acceptable to wear to work, so she was left with capris and dresses.  Her thighs did not support wearing dresses, thigh chafing was too uncomfortable.  The idea of wearing a breezy dress sounded so comfortable to her, that she created the solution to her problem:  The Original Lace Shortlette®️. She wanted something to wear that was a single layer, the legs stayed put, comfy, and most importantly, pretty.
