How to Create a Stylish Outfit for Big Thighs and Hips

Do you have thick thighs and a pear-shaped body? Styling an outfit with big thighs and hips can be tricky, but you can create the perfect look for your curves with proper knowledge and styling tricks. This article will guide you through creating a fashionable ensemble that flatters big thighs and hips.

Know Your Body Shape

When it comes to fashion, knowing your body shape is essential. Knowing your body shape will help you make the most of your assets and find clothes that fit and flatter you. There are five main body shapes: pear, apple, hourglass, inverted triangle, and rectangle.

If you have a pear-shaped body, you have wide hips and thighs with a slimmer upper half. To create balance in your figure, opt for -line dresses or skirts that draw attention away from thick legs and the lower half of your body. For tops, choose shoulder pads to enhance the bust area.

If you’re an apple shape, you have a wider midsection than the rest of your body. Choose form-fitting dresses or pencil skirts to give a small waist the illusion of curves, and pair them with bright colors to draw attention away from the midsection.

For those with an hourglass figure, emphasize your curves by wearing something that fits like a glove, such as a wrap dress or tailored garments. Avoid boxy cuts crop tops, as they can make you look larger than you are.

Inverted triangles should go for necklines like boat necks wear tops that help balance their figure. At the same time, rectangles should emphasize their waistline by wearing belts or clothing with embellishments around their middle section.

Considering these tips when choosing clothes, you can dress for success no matter your body type!

Choose the Right Fabrics

When it comes to dressing for success, choosing the suitable fabric is just as important as picking out the perfect article of clothing. Different fabrics can add texture and interest to an outfit and help flatter your figure. For those with thicker thighs and hips, choose fabrics that are thick enough to help provide structure to your look. Look for heavier materials like denim or twill, and wear pants, which will help slim down the appearance of your lower half. Lightweight fabrics such as chiffon and silk are excellent choices for tops since they contrast with heavier materials on the bottom.

In addition to choosing the suitable fabric, color is critical when creating a flattering outfit. Neutral colors like black, white, and gray are great options since they give you plenty of flexibility when styling your outfit. If you’re looking for something bolder, opt for darker colors, such as navy blue or dark green, which can help create an elongated silhouette. Lastly, avoid horizontal stripes since they can draw attention away from the waistline and make you appear wider than you are. You can create a stylish outfit that flatters your figure by choosing a line of dresses of suitable fabrics and colors!

Emphasize the Waist

When dressing for success, emphasizing the waist is critical when creating a stylish outfit for big thighs and hips. One of the best ways to do this is by incorporating pieces that hug your curves in all the right places.

Skinny jeans or leggings are great choices since they provide structure and shape to your lower half without looking too tight. If you want something more formal, opt for an A-line dress or skirt that cinches at the waist and falls away from the hips.

To complete the look, add a pair of knee-high boots or high-waisted pants to emphasize your waistline further. Additionally, if you’re feeling adventurous, pair bright colors with dark colors, such as a yellow top and black pants, which can help create a slimming silhouette for bigger thighs. With just a few simple tweaks, you can create an outfit that flatters your pear-shaped body type while making you feel confident and stylish!

Consider Layering

Layering is a great way to create an outfit that looks stylish and flattering for big thighs and hips. It’s best to start with a form-fitting tank or t-shirt, such as those made from spandex or other stretchy materials.

Then you can layer on top of it with a cardigan, long sleeve shirt, or blazer – all of which will help draw attention away from your lower and upper body together. To ensure the layers fit correctly, the pieces are tailored at the waist so they don’t add bulk to your hips and thighs.

You can also try wearing vests or tunics over slim-fitting jeans or leggings for a more casual look. Finally, consider adding shrugs with shoulder pads to add an extra flair to your outfit for an edgier style. With the right combination of layers, you’ll be able to create a fashionable look that accentuates your figure in all the right places!

Accessorize Strategically

Accessorizing strategically is essential in creating a stylish outfit for big thighs and hips. Accessories can draw the eye away from your lower body, so choosing pieces that will flatter your figure is essential.

For example, if you have a pear-shaped body, opt for high-waisted pants or skirts paired with a belt to define your waistline. Additionally, wear necklaces and earrings that draw attention to your face instead of your hips and thighs. Knee-high boots make your legs look slimmer if you wear a dress or skirt.

Avoid bright colors such as red and yellow, as they draw attention to the area you want to be disguised. Instead, opt for darker colors like navy blue or black – these will help create a flattering silhouette without overpowering your skin tone. Finally, accessorize with horizontal and vertical stripes on tops and vertical lines on bottoms – this will help elongate the appearance of both your upper and lower body!

Conclusion

In conclusion, creating a stylish outfit for big thighs and hips doesn’t have to be a challenge. You can create a flattering, fashionable ensemble with the right clothes and accessories. Choose skinny jeans or form-fitting dresses in neutral colors to help create an elongated silhouette. For added definition, accessorize with belts around your waist, horizontal stripes on tops, flared pants, and vertical lines on bottoms. Finally, opt for darker colors like navy blue or black for the finishing touches to avoid drawing too much attention to your lower body. With these tips, you’ll have no trouble creating a fashionable outfit that flatters your figure!

ABOUT US

Meet our founder: CarrieRae

Undersummers Shortlettes were created CarrieRae's personal need for comfortable thigh protection when she was working as a teacher. In 2011, her thick thighs rubbed and she needed a comfortable solution.  Pants are blazing hot in the Houston spring/summer months, shorts are not acceptable to wear to work, so she was left with capris and dresses.  Her thighs did not support wearing dresses, thigh chafing was too uncomfortable.  The idea of wearing a breezy dress sounded so comfortable to her, that she created the solution to her problem:  The Original Lace Shortlette®️. She wanted something to wear that was a single layer, the legs stayed put, comfy, and most importantly, pretty.
